Another gender reveal party has gone wrong after the mother and father were clearly disappointed to learn they were having a daughter
A woman posted to Reddit about the appalling reaction that the man had which shocked the guests at the gender reveal.
The user’s mother-in-law had organised the anticipated gender reveal party.
She’d given everyone fake envelopes to trick them and build up to the reveal.
“Like at one point she had someone lift a sticker that had writing underneath that said ‘It’s a b…………..aby!’ but instead of lifting it all the way to see that, the dad just got super excited and was shouting “I saw a B, I saw a B!”. When they realised it was a joke, they looked annoyed,” the woman wrote.
When the grandmother was told that she had the right envelope, she revealed the baby was a girl.
Unfortunately, the father’s expression immediately changed and he became angry at the news.
“If you know one of the possible results is going to make you feel bad, why make a party for a public gender reveal?”
It was then that his wife ran into his arms, sobbing, saying that they were “going to be broke”.
However, guests were even more shocked by what the dad said next: “We’ll try again”.
“So these people got pregnant knowing it was a 50/50 shot at a girl or a boy, and still did it,” the woman wrote to Reddit.
“And now they were crying at the gender reveal. My mother-in-law was trying to smooth things over and reminded them that they already have a little girl so they won’t need to buy new baby/toddler clothes so it would be cheaper.”
However, this apparently wasn’t enough to console either parent. Strangely, the wife expressed her concerns over having to buy prom dresses.
“Ma’am did you really conceive two entire human beings just to try for a boy and your biggest concern is… prom dresses?” the poster said.
“And they’re going to try for a boy again, so I highly doubt money is the actual issue here.”
Needless to say, many of the commenters on the post were equally horrified.
One wrote: “If you know one of the possible results is going to make you feel bad, why make a party for a public gender reveal?”
Another pointed out their flawed logic: “”Always going to be broke?!
“This sentence always makes me mad. Girls are not more expensive than boys. You, the parents, just spoil them.”
Stories like this make me scared to ever attend a gender reveal party!
