Dealing with your mother-in-law can always be pretty complicated. Some of us get along like a house on fire and others... not so much.
One expectant-mum admitted her mother-in-law has been pretty overbearing since she announced her pregnancy.
The mum-to-be recently discovered her mother-in-law wants to be part of her delivery.
Yes, you read that right. She wants to be there for the entire thing from the contractions, the calls for gas and air to the moment the baby is born.
Sounds a little intense? The only people we even truly want there is the doctor, especially the one with the pain relief.
The 30-year-old woman explained that her mother-in-law is the "busy body type".
During a family dinner, the mother-in-law made her request.
"She blatantly said that she wanted to be in the delivery room with me when I give birth. I was taken back by her request -- I really thought it had something to do with the nursery or diaper brand.
"I said I was sorry but only my mom and my husband will be there."
"She made a face, got quiet for a while then brought it up again."
The mother-in-law kept pushing and said, "she is as much of a grandmother as my mom".
"She just wanted to be there for support and get the opportunity to see her grandbaby's first moments."
The woman's husband even sided with his mother, which really hurt her.
"I just stared at her and said, "it's alright, you can have the opportunity to be in the delivery room when it's your son who's giving birth."
The mother-in-law stormed off and the couple quickly left, but not before having a huge argument on the way home.
The woman said her husband "lost it" at her in the car.
She explained to him that she was frustrated and didn't mean what she said. He argued that if she doesn't want to deal with this drama then she should've just said yes to his mother.
Her husband then said if his mom isn't allowed in there then he won't be there too.
The mum-to-be was understandably fuming. It's her body, her birth, and her baby. She's the one who will be enduring the pain and the one who should decide who gets to be there when her son is born.
