The aim of the scheme is to give retailers a much-needed boost after being closed for so much of the pandemic.
The pre-paid card is the perfect way for people to support local businesses especially after the brutal year they've had with lockdowns and restrictions impacting their sales.
Applications for the vouchers will be checked against the electoral register, warned Economy Minister Gordon Lyons.
He explained that the register is being updated so people will need to re-register to vote.
"As a first step in that process I would urge members of the public to sign up to the electoral register if they have not already done so," he commented.
An estimated 1.4 million people will now have an extra £100 to spend in Northern Ireland's stores rather than spending their money online.
"This will help bring many more customers back through the doors of local retail, hospitality, and other sectors."
