Tributes paid to six-year-old hit by van, Gardai appeal for witnesses

Tributes have been paid to six-year-old Cian Marren who passed away yesterday after being struck by a van in Shankill on Friday.

As tributes continue to be paid to tragic Cian Marren, the young boy who died yesterday following a road traffic accident on Friday, Shankill Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

Six-year-old Cian was hit by a van while crossing the Shanganagh Road close to the Hazelwood estate at 4.45pm on Friday 28th of July. He was taken to Temple Street Hospital where he sadly died as a result of his injuries on Sunday afternoon, DublinLive reports.

Cian, who was from the Ballycullen area, was involved in a number of local sports teams including Firhouse Taekwon-do Club and St Anne’s GAA Club in Bohernabreena. Both clubs paid tribute to their young member, calling the tragic news of his passing “devastating” and writing that he “will be sadly missed by all.” Cian is survived by his parents Liam and Lisa, and sisters Áine and Ciara.

Gardaí have confirmed that they have interviewed the driver of a white van involved in the incident, that was travelling in the direction of Shankill Village. They are now appealing for witnesses or for anyone who was in the area at the time, or has any information about the collision to contact them on (01) 666 5900.
