Two Amazon kid’s costumes recalled by CCPC over safety concerns

A number of costumes have been recalled from being sold on Amazon due to a safety concern was found by the Competitions and Consumer Protection Commission.

The first safety issue was identified with two costumes; Spooktacular Creations Orange & Purple Halloween Witch Costume.

The product presents a serious risk of choking and strangulation, according to officials.

The notice read: “The buttons on the shawl of the costume may become detached creating small parts, if a child puts the small parts in their mouth it can block airways and cause choking.

“The fabric belt of the costume features a cord that has been measured to exceed the maximum length of 300mm which poses a risk of strangulation.”

The brand is Spooktacular Creations, the Amazon ASIN number is B08BWJTZH3, but the model number, barcode and the batch number are unknown.

The product was sold online through Amazon and there are approximately 14 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

Another safety issue wasidentified with a Licus Girls Royal Vampire Halloween Costume sold on Amazon.

The warning reads: “The product presents a risk of entrapment as when the waist area of the dress is stretched out, both free ends of the ribbon/cord measured 175mm ± 10mm, exceeding the specified maximum of 140mm (14cm).”

The brand is Licus, the Amazon ASIN number is B0755CNP98, but again, the model number is G-0108. The barcode and the batch number are unknown.

The product was sold online through Amazon and there is approximately 1 affected product in the Republic of Ireland.
