Viewers were delighted with one thing on last night’s GBBO

It's BACK!

The new version of The Great British Bake Off is well and truly underway with episode 4 airing last night. As the show moved to Channel 4 there was a lot of anxiety among fans about how it would turn out. The style and feel of the new show is a carbon copy of the BBC variety, understandably because it's from the same production company. Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig even have a very similar presenting style to Mel and Sue and have even adopted their, "ready, steady, baaaaake", catchphrase. The similarities have delighted some fans but others feel it's trying too hard to replicate the show they knew and loved for so many years. But, while it resembled the BBC show it did leave out one very important feature in episodes 1 to 3 - the history section. Mel and Sue used to create inserts where they investigated the history of the baked goods, often travelling to different parts of the world to do so. It was absent from the new show, until this week when it made a very welcomed return.

Noel travelled to Gouda in the Netherlands to find out about the history of the stroopwafel, from the technical challenge. It wasn't something fans were expecting and it made them very happy.
