Gardaí launch investigation after videos of young girl being attacked emerge

A video of the attack is being circulated online.

Gardaí in Waterford have launched an investigation into an attack on a teenage girl.

It is believed the young girl was attacked by a group of youths on March 17th.

Videos of the assault, which occurred on St. Patrick’s Day, have emerged online.

Gardaí confirmed the attack took place in the town of Cappoquin.

The young girl was transported to hospital after the attack, but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

In the video, two girls are seen attacking the girl.

She is tackled to the ground by one girl and then another punches her multiple times.

The disturbing video has been trending online.

The gang of youths can also be heard cheering in the video.

They also posed alongside the girl when she was reportedly semi-conscious.

Gardaí in Dungarvan have managed to identify multiple teens in the video.

A spokesperson for Gardaí in Waterford said they’ve launched a full and thorough investigation.

“Gardaí at Dungarvan have commenced an investigation following the alleged assault of a female.”

The attack involved “a group of youths in the Cappoquin area of Co Waterford, on the 17th of March, 2022.”

They said the girl is aged in her mid-teens.

“She received medical treatment following the incident for non-life-threatening injuries.”

“Investigating Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry in the matter.”
