Why Mila Kunis won’t be giving her kids Christmas presents this year

Would you agree with this?

Presents are a pretty integral part of Christmas, especially when you have small kids.

But given how commercial the occasion has become, would you consider cutting back?

Mila Kunis has said that she and husband Ashton Kutcher have decided not to give presents to their children this year.

Her daughter Wyatt, three, and son Dmitri, ten months, are too young to appreciate them, she explained.

“When the kids are (younger than) 1, it doesn’t really matter,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

“Last year when we celebrated Christmas, Wyatt was two and it was too much.

“We didn’t give her anything—it was the grandparents. The kid no longer appreciates the one gift. They don’t even know what they’re expecting; they’re just expecting stuff.”

“We’ve told our parents, ‘We’re begging you, if you have to give her something, pick one gift. Otherwise, we’d like to take a charitable donation to the children’s hospital or a pet, whatever you want,'” Kunis added.

Speaking about her attitude to parenting, Mila said she and Ashton wanted their children to be as grounded as possible.

“We’re not going to raise assholes. There are enough assholes in the world! We don’t need to contribute. But, you know, there are some nice people.”

It’s something the actress has touched on in the past. Mila was born in communist-era Ukraine and lived there until she was seven and so is keen to make sure her children are aware of the advantages they have.

“I really don’t want my kids to be assholes and they are going to be so privileged,” she told The Mirror last year.

“I grew up so poor that I was like, ‘Does anybody drink ketchup with water for soup?’

“Everything – information, material things – will be so accessible to my kids, because it’s the lifestyle they will know. How do you make them appreciative of the things they have?”
