5 great Easter egg hunts across Ireland

Looking for an Easter egg hunt to take the children to over the midterm break? Check out our round-up of five tasty trails taking place across the country.

1. Cork

Alice’s Adventures at the Fota House Easter Egg Trail

When: Friday April 3 and Saturday April 4, 10am-4pm.

What: The gardens of Fota House will this year be transformed into the world of Alice in Wonderland for this annual Easter egg trail. Children will follow a map around the gardens to take them down the rabbit hole, visit the Queen’s croquet ground, take a picture at the tree of mirrors, run the caucus race and ponder which road to take at the many crossroads. The trail will end at the Mad Hatters Tea Party in the Victorian Frameyard Garden. Those taking part are encouraged to wear their best Easter or Alice in Wonderland character costume. Tickets are €7.50 per child.

 

2. Dublin

Cadbury Easter Egg Trail in Merrion Square

When: Saturday April 4 – morning event 10am-12.30pm, afternoon event 2pm-4.30pm.

What: After receiving a trail journal containing all the clues needed to complete the Easter egg hunt, every child is guaranteed a delicious treat at the end of their adventure. Family tickets are €20, with all proceeds going to Barnardos.

 

3. Galway

Easter Egg Hunt at Brigit’s Garden

When: April 5 and April 6 – 1pm-5pm.

What: Every child will receive a prize at this annual Easter egg hunt. To cater for all ages, there will be a longer treasure hunt around the nature trail for older children and a shorter one around the gardens for younger ones. You can start the trail any time over the specified times on the two days. There will also be Easter crafts and face painting taking place. Tickets are €7.00 per adult or child, €25.00 for a family of five, or free admission to everyone who purchases an annual membership on the day.

 

4. Derry

The Jungle NI Easter Egg Hunt

When: Sunday April 5 – 12:30pm, 1:00pm, 1:30pm, 2:00pm, 2:30pm.

What: Hundreds of Easter Eggs are lying strewn around The Jungle site. Children will be given clues and puzzles and must make their way through the forest to answer the riddles to find the missing eggs at the end of the trail. The hunt is suitable for all ages and lasts approximately 60 minutes. Tickets are £6 per child (0-15 years) and £3 per adult. Advanced booking essential.

 

5. Meath

The Tayto Park Easter Scavenger Hunt

When: Sunday April 5

What: Every child will receive an egg in this Easter scavenger hunt once they have completed the questions from around Tayto Park. There will also be complimentary face painting, balloon modelling and glitter tattoo artistry. Normal entry prices apply, there is no extra charge for the hunt.
