5 Reasons to go see Mary Poppins this Christmas

HerFamily

Mary Poppins is one of the most-loved Disney movies of all time with hit songs including A Spoonful of Sugar and Let’s Go Fly a Kite.

And this Christmas it’s coming to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin.

We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the show in Bristol and we have to say it’s quite the spectacle.

With plenty of magic and two fantastic leads, this should be top of your list for a festive family night out.

Fun for all the family

Whether your children are five or 15, this show really does have something for everyone. Fans of the film will love seeing this classic story unfold onstage but we wouldn’t be surprised if the production creates an entirely new audience. It really is THAT good.

There’s plenty of magic

While we don’t want to spoil it for you, we will say that there are plenty of magical moments during the show. From upside-down dancing to flying on stage to over-sized toys, there’s plenty of spectacular scenes to behold.

Great songs

This version doesn’t include all of the songs from the film but the core tunes are there including A Spoonful of Sugar, Let’s Go Fly a Kite, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and Chim Chim Cher-ee. There are also some new (and very catchy) numbers included.

A brilliant cast

Zizi Strallen is the perfect choice for Mary Poppins. She’s elegant but amiable and she sure can sing. Matt Lee, who plays Bert, is also an excellent choice. His background as a choreographer and dancer really makes him stand out.

It’s Christmas

As much as we love being off for the holidays, it can be tricky coming up with activities to keep the little ones amused. That’s why taking in a show is perfect. It’s a lovely day out that won’t necessarily break the bank. You could even use it as gift inspiration for your nearest and dearest!
