6 nappy hacks EVERY mum and dad should know about

Because it IS like stuffing an octopus into a mesh bag.

Changing a nappy has, quite rightly, been likened to stuffing an octopus into a mesh bag.

Whether your little darling is determined to wriggle off the changing table or scream the house down, wee in your face or kick you multiple times in the boob, the chances are they won’t lie peacefully smiling up at you while you take care of business.

So what’s a parent to do?

Well, we’ve collected some ancient wisdom and tried and tested tips on the topic – every one of them worth their weight in gold.

Here are six of the best:

1. Make it fun. How? Pick a funny song or a silly rhyme to perform during nappy changes. Extra points if it includes actions for baby’s hands – Incy Wincy Spider is a classic.

2. Choose a special toy that your tot only gets to play with during nappy change time. A treat such as a teething ring from the fridge can work well also.

3. Place a dry flannel over your son and heir while you change him to avoid a soaking.

4. Stockpile plastic bags and always carry them in your changing bag – you never know when a poo-nami is about strike. Make sure you roll them up and secure them with a hair elastic safely inside a pocket out of baby’s reach.

6. If you’ve ever had to wrestle a squirming child into a clean nappy, you’ll probably want this product in your life. The SnoofyBee is a new kind of changing mat, which features flexible sides that fold up to form a gentle but secure barrier between baby’s hands and the nappy.
