Although many parents often accompany their children on slides to protect them, this often has an adverse effect.
A 2009 study conducted by New York's Winthrop University Hospital found that 14 percent of 58 fractures over an 11-month period were received from playground slide injuries.
According to The New York Times, the study was conducted by Dr John Gaffney, a pediatric orthopaedic specialist who found that every one of these fractures related to children under the age of 3.
Although your little ones might enjoy it and you'll get them giggling from sliding with Mum or Dad, the reality is it's better to be safe than sorry by avoiding it in future.Explore more on these topics:
