The beautiful poem that sums up how all brand new mums are feeling right now

Trine Jensen-Burke

lockdown babies

To all the little ‘lockdown babies.’

We are living through some incredibly strange, emotional and unprecedented days right now. The world is so quiet, everyone is in their homes, the news is dominated by scary things and sadness, and it somewhat feels like we are all just holding our breath, waiting to see what happens next.

It is strange for all of us, and I can only imagine how especially emotional and crazy it must feel to be a brand new mum right now. To have just brought your baby into this strange and different world, in the midst of all this chaos and uncertainty and fear.

But the beauty of motherhood is this: Once you have that baby in your arms, very little else matters. And so day by day, while the world is happening outside your door, you and your baby are busy getting to know each other, and in the future, when all this has passed, which it will, and your baby is no longer a baby, you will no doubt still remember these days as some of the most beautiful of your life.

This poem has been doing the rounds on social media these past few days, and it sums up so beautifully just how unique and special these days are, especially for mums of all these brand new ‘lockdown babies.’
