The majority of us parents with small children have – at times – no doubt felt a pang of longing for the bliss that was weekend mornings in our pre-child lives.

You know; with all the brunch and sleep and weekend papers those days involved. It was pretty darn glorious, no?

Still, though, much I occasionally miss the sheer self-indulgent laziness of those days, I still wouldn’t change it for what I have now, when Saturday and Sunday mornings are a flurry of family life and noise and pancakes and Paw Patrol and sloppy kisses and Lego and a whole lotta’ love.

Which, I would assume, is pretty much how we all feel, no? Once you have kids, you might from time to time yearn for a little bit of the old days, but while still realizing these new ones, they are pretty amazing, albeit different, too.

Which is probably why, when Australian model and TV presenter Rachael Finch, recently admitted that herseld and her husband spend every weekend away from their two-year-old daughter, it caused quite a stir online.

27-year-old Finch and hubbie Michael Miziner claim that alone time all weekend, every weekend is ‘healthy for their relationship’, and therefore ships two-year-old Violet off to her paternal grandmother from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning – every weekend.

This is what the mother-of-one told the Australian Sunday Telegraph earlier this week:

“Every weekend Violet goes to Mish’s mum’s house, and we get our weekend to ourselves. I think that’s incredibly healthy for the relationship. And on Sunday, when we pick her up, we have 100 percent energy back.”

After being bombarded with criticism for her “part-time parenting” lifestyle online, Finch took to Instagram to defend her choice, writing:

A Mother should never be made to feel they are not good enough for their child when they are doing everything they can to keep them safe, happy and loved. Only the parents of a child truly know what is best and should always have faith in their decisions. I value dearly the relationship Violet has with her Grandmother and I believe this is one of the most important and influential relationships growing up. I work hard so that I can provide the best future for the amazing soul we have created. I won’t ever stop believing in her or the strength of the family unit.
