Channing Tatum has shared an open letter to his three-year-old daughter, Everly, and it’s all kinds of lovely.
The letter posted in Cosmopolitan shares all the things he wants his little girl to know as she grows up.
Worried that she may learn some of life’s most important lessons from somewhere else, Channing shared his “highest hope” for Everly was for her to be fearless.
“I tried to imagine the things I’d want her to read that would help her understand men and sex and partnership better,” Channing wrote. “And at that moment, I realised a strange thing. I don’t want her looking to the outside world for answers.
“My highest hope for her is just that she has the fearlessness to always be her authentic self, no matter what she thinks men want her to be.”
The actor also spoke about his relationship with Everly’s mother, and wife of seven years, Jenna. Speaking about the beginning of their relationship, Channing revealed what he thought to be the “sexiest thing she’d ever done”.
“One day, Jenna just blurted out that she knew exactly what she wanted in life and she didn’t have to look for it anymore because it was me. She had no idea what I’d say or how I’d react, but that was her truth,” he continued.
“I remember feeling this incredible rush – it was the sexiest thing she’d ever done for me. That radical authenticity of hers was what made me fall head over heels in love.”
In an effort to teach his daughter to feel empowered, Channing ended with one piece of advice, the one thing he wanted more women, including his daughter, to know – “that they alone are enough”.
