Dad annoyed as daughter’s friend isn’t allowed sleepover in their house

Because he’s male…

A dad has taken online to complain about parents who won’t allow their child have a sleepover in his house.

The man’s child is turning 9-years-old and wants to have a sleepover with her best friend to celebrate. However, the friend’s parents have a problem because he’s male.

He also added that they know each other since their kids have been in nursery.

The dad said:

“DD 9th birthday is next week, she wants a sleepover with a friend from school, I don’t usually pick her up from school so she made an invitation and I put my number on it so the parents could ring to arrange the sleepover.

“She asked me if anyone else would be home, I told her it would just be me and my other DC. She later said she wouldn’t feel comfortable with me hosting the sleepover and being male.

“I explained there isn’t anyone else to host it, she lives with me full time, so she said her daughter wouldn’t be coming.

“I think that’s a really odd attitude to have, DD knows her friend isn’t allowed to come but doesn’t know why, I told her her friend probably meant she was busy that day but it’s still upset her. I don’t think she should miss out because her mum isn’t around.”

Many replied to the post saying they were shocked at the other parents’ reaction.

One said:

“Your poor DD, she will be so disappointed – and shame on the other mum for judging you just for being male.

“Is there a different friend she would like to come and stay?

“Or, if not, maybe something during the evening and the parents collect late on – so they get the fun of the sleepover (the excited, late night) but without the sleeping – or would the mum have issues with this too?”

While another wrote:

“She’s not said it because she doesn’t know OP she said it’s specifically because he’s male. If she said she doesn’t allow it because she doesn’t know him fair enough but to assume all men are creeps seem judgemental to me.”

What would you do in the same situation?
