Dad saves 4-year-old daughter’s life by remembering CPR episode of The Office

Officially a hero

We can definitely say binge watching TV officially has its benefits after one dad saved his little girl’s life with the help of The Office.

4-year-old Vera Posy’s life was saved after her father Matt remembered the CPR scene from the show.

The little girl collapsed when she was playing a game of tag with her dad. Matt told Today that he just thought she had fallen over, “When I picked her up off the ground, she was just limp, her eyes were kind of rolled back.”

Situations like that are never easy to deal with and the pressure a parent feels is one like no other, but luckily, Matt recalled that famous scene in The Office as they waited for emergency services to arrive.

“When I was trying to think about what do I know about CPR, (my mind literally went) to that episode of ‘The Office,’ where they are doing CPR training and doing the compressions to the beat of ‘Stayin’ Alive,’” he shared.

“It’s just what kicks in, what’s in your head, and that’s fortunate.”

Paramedics took over and then used a defibrillator to revive little Vera.

The doctors later discovered that Vera had calmodulinopathy, which is an arrhythmia syndrome that tends to affect young people.

Vera now has a implantable cardioverter defibrillator, which will help her heart start if it ever stops again.

Matt has urged parents to get official CPR training and not to rely on scenes from The Office.

“CPR is not a difficult skill but it can change the world,” the dad stressed.
