If you are planning on staying at home this Easter, there are loads of events in Ireland to choose from to keep the kiddies entertained.
And in my book, there isn’t anything much more exciting than heading off on a planned Easter Egg hunt!
My son Jacob (4) will be just the right age to truly understand how it will all work and as we don’t plan on going away while he’s off school, we will definitely sign up to an egg hunt in our local area.
Here are 13 of the most fun Easter Egg hunts that we have gathered from around the country:
KILLARNEY:
1. Charity Bunny Hop Tea Party At The Malton Hotel In Aid Of Down Syndrome Kerry
Bring the family on Sunday March 20th from 2-4pm and enjoy and afternoon of fun and activities including an animal road show, bouncy castle, magic show, puppet show, face painting, balloon modelling and a children’s disco.
DUBLIN:
2. The Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunt In Support Of Barnardos
This event at Merrion Square has been such a huge success year on year that the organisers have decided to turn it into an entire weekend event for 2016.
3. Malahide Castle Easter Trail
Malahide Castle have a really exciting Wizard Of Oz-themed event this year, taking place on Saturday the 26th of March and split over morning and afternoon sessions.
GAA fans aged 4-8 will enjoy this Easter Egg hunt with a difference, as it includes a tour of the behind-the-scenes at Croke Park! Runs daily from 23rd to 27th March (except March 25th)
KILDARE:
Lullymore are running Easter Egg Hunts daily from March 26th to April 1st from 10am – 6pm. The Easter Bunny will be on stand by to help with the clues!
WICKLOW:
6. Greenan Maze Easter Egg Hunt
The team at Greenan Maze are running events over Easter Sunday and Monday, with the Easter Bunny and Cheeky Chicks on standby to help out. A special hunt for toddlers and smaller children take place at 3pm on each day too.
CLARE:
7. Moher Hill Open Farm Easter Extravaganza
All the animals at Moher Hill Open Farm are keen to show off their young at Easter time so there will be great excitement for all the kids. There are Easter Egg hunts from Saturday the 26th to Monday the 28th of March and they have included a ‘Tiny Tots Under 5’s’ hunt too.
CORK:
8. Monster Easter Egg Hunt At Leahy’s Open Farm, Midleton
The Easter Bunny drops eggs throughout the farm from the morning of Saturday 26th to the end of the day on Monday 28th so no matter what time you start your egg hunt, there will always be some eggs for you to find. This year, the farm are also organising an ‘Egg Throwing Competition’ to raise funds for the Make A Wish Foundation.
GALWAY:
Join the Easter Bunny and his crazy sidekick, The Easter Chicken as they dance the afternoon away and help all the kids find the hidden eggs! From 2pm on March 26th to 28th.
KILKENNY:
10. Easter Egg Hunt At Nore Valley Park Open Farm
The annual Easter Egg hunt is on during the Easter holidays, from the 18th to the 24th of March (except Sunday) from 10am to 4pm daily. This is a busy working farm where the kids are allowed to bottle-feed all the new arrivals – awww!
MAYO:
Westport House organise a huge Easter Egg hunt on Easter Sunday, with 300 chocolate eggs for the first to complete the hunt! Allow one hour to complete the hunt and hang around for the prize giving at 5.30pm
MEATH:
12. Easter Scavenger Hunt At Tayto Park
Tayto Park have a host of family-friendly events from the time that school Easter holidays begin, from face painting and magic shows to animal feeding every day. A scavenger hunt takes place on Sunday the 27th and of course, Mr. Tayto will be making guest appearances. Hope he can help with the clues!
WEXFORD:
13. The Irish National Heritage Park, Ferricarrig
On Friday 25th and Saturday 26th of March, The Irish National Heritage Park are asking all children to please bring their magnifying glasses and help the Easter Bunny to find those eggs! The hunts run throughout each day from 10.30 – 4pm.
