She claims that right after the birth, she felt pressure to make sure she was runway ready. In an interview for Harpers Bazaar, she began persuading 30 year old model Rosie, not to do the same. As a woman working in an industry based on good looks, there's no doubt she can relate.
Fifty-three year old Elle said,
"If I could give advise to any woman having a baby it's to take your time [loosing the extra baby weight]. I was not a good example because I did all that with my first child and within three weeks I was back to normal."Yes you read correctly... three weeks. Elle who is mother to 19 year old Arpad and 14 year old Aurelius, emphasised the importance of shedding baby weight at our own pace saying,
"I wouldn't do that again, and I certainly didn't do it for my second baby."After feeling unhealthy at that point in her life she stressed that mums should take as much time as needed and pointed out that a few extra months won't make a difference.
The Victoria's Secret model and mum-to-be, Rosie, has kept us all guessing her baba's due date, but we have a slight hunch it will be early summer. No doubt Rosie will feel a certain amount of pressure to bounce back especially when it has implications for her career but lets hope she takes heed of the advice given. It won't be all bad for Rosie, she'll have her fiancé, actor and stunt-man, Jason Statham, 49, for encouragement. Hopefully Elle's comments will lessen the pressure of loosing weight quickly, not just for Rosie but for all mums. We have too many insecurities as it is and priorities that need taking care of first and foremost, namely our health. So we say good on Elle for caring enough to address not just the modeling industry's expectations for women, but also society's.
