Eva Mendes has revealed why she didn’t accompany Ryan Gosling to the Oscar’s (and her reason is ADORABLE)

Ryan Gosling has been the talk of Tinsel Town after the massive box office success of his latest movie, La La Land, but one person has been noticeably missing from all his red carpet appearances this season.

And just because everyone started questioning where his actual leading lady – and mother of his two young daughters – Eva Mendes – had been, the actress set the record straight in an interview with Shape magazine this week.

In a feature for the magazine’s April issue, which Eva is also gracing the cover of, the 43-year-old explains why she wasn’t accompanying her man down the red carpet.

“What people don’t know about me is that I love being home,” Mendes told the fitness magazine.”Instead of hitting the red carpet, I’d rather be with our girls.”

Mendes and Gosling are, of course, parents to daughters, Esmeralda, 2, and Amada, 11 months. And According to the La La Land star’s acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, Mendes was home, taking care of their first child and carrying their second, while he was filming. “If she hadn’t had taken all of that on so that I could have this experience, [there] would surely be someone else here other than me today,” Gosling said. “So sweetheart, thank you.”

Swoon.

But although Ryan’s baby mama would rather be home than making her rounds at awards season, that doesn’t mean she is not a busy lady herself. The actress is, in fact, also helming her own fashion line for New York & Company and a beauty brand named Circa.

Lucky for us, she is sharing snippets of her fashion- and beauty endeavours on her Instagram account, so you can stalk her all you want now (we totally do!)
