Dad a foodie? Here’s what to get for the perfect Father’s Day present

Still thinking of what to get your dad for Father’s Day?

Well, if he’s a food lover (and who isn’t?) we have the perfect thing for him.

Taste of Dublin is back in the Iveagh Gardens next week and they have so much going on. The theme this year is Vive La Révolution so expect loads of new flavours and exciting twists on all the classics.

The event is, of course, coinciding with Father’s Day which makes it the perfect gift for your da (very convenient!). Makes sure he doesn’t fill up too much on breakfast before heading (no matter how much he thinks he wants the Father’s Day fry) because there will be OODLES of dishes for him to munch on. Each dish will only cost €5 which means he’ll be stuffed and you won’t go broke. Win win for everyone, really.

The event is happening from 13 June to 16 June and will have some of Ireland’s best chefs creating fusion dishes with Irish and international cuisine. A great way to try new things while still paying tribute to the old reliables that we grew up with.

Eating isn’t the only thing you’ll get to do though. There will also be cooking demonstrations from various different Irish chefs, some music, and plenty of other activities to keep you going for the whole day.

Here’s are just some of the experiences you and your dad can look forward to if you head to the Iveagh Gardens next weekend:

The Lazy Basics – handy hacks for cooking with minimal work.
Japanese Taste Experience – feel the buzz of Shinbashi, Tokyo’s entertainment district, through food, drink, a curated DJ set, and interactive experiences (we can’t wait for this!).
No Lo Br by Fentimans – as many botanical soft drinks as you can handle.
Taste Talks – the low-down on all the latest world food trends as well learning more about growing your own stuff.
Taste Tunes! – tunes, tunes, tunes.
Fire Pit BBQ – a perfect time to enjoy a summer BBQ.
Taste Fusion – a whole pile of different fusion dishes, with foods from both near and far.
Lounge at Taste – for the VIPs. Guests are welcomed to the Lounge at Taste with a complimentary crisp Perrier Champagne.
VIP Brunch – everyone loves brunch and Taste of Dublin knows it. Make it a boozy brunch by adding a Bloody Mary to your meal – what more could you want?
Afternoon Tea – perfect if you want to visit with friends or bring your mum out (sure she might get jealous with Dad getting all the attention).
Friday Fashion & Food – fashion-themed sweet treats galore. Celebrate the synergy that’s shared by both food and fashion. (Holly White makes sure that there’s plenty here for the vegans too.)
Taste Marketplace – where all the samples are and where we expect you and your dad will spend the vast majority of your day (as will we).

Tickets to the event start at only €15 for general entry so, all in all, this is a pretty cheap Father’s Day gift (not that we need to tell him that…). The opening times are from 12pm to 4pm and 5:30pm to 9:30pm on Sunday (it stays open until 10:30pm from Thursday to Saturday).

Also, for a limited time only, you can get your hands on their new VIP Bunch ticket, which is available for Sunday afternoon. You can enjoy the Taste VIP experience, which includes access to the VIP Lounge, a glass of champagne and a beer plus the limited edition brunch ticket that will give you a brunch dish from San Lorenzo’s signature dish menu and a delicious Ketel One Bloody Mary cocktail, all for only €47.50 (we’ll take a brunch for two, please!).

We can definitely imagine finding our dad lingering around the fire pit BBQ for most of the day, having the time of his life. And best thing about it? We’ll get all the credit.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad!
