Steven Gerrard has caused a stir online by sharing photos of a luxury iPad that was a gift for his daughter.
The former footballer posted the images of the 18 carat rose gold iPad to Instagram last night, writing that it was for his daughter Lourdes, who recently celebrated her sixth birthday.
The device retails for €1,600 from iDesign Gold.

He also posted a photo of Lourdes on her birthday last week to Instagram, writing “Happy 6th birthday to this little stunner… I love you babe.”
Some of his followers thought the gift was too extravagant for a young child.
“Disappointed in you Steven… will be unfollowing.”
“I really like this couple and always thought he was very down to earth!!! But this is just so ridiculous for a 6 year old??? What will she expect to receive next year?”
“I love Stevie but holy hell this is stupid for a 6 year old when so many are going without food.”
Others meanwhile had a go at Steven for promoting the product to his 6.5 million followers.
“Is there anything your not going to advertise? Surely your not short of cash.”

Plenty of fans defended the soccer star.
“So what? Plenty of young kids have iPads why shouldn’t be get one for his little girl.”
“I’d do the same if I had the money. My kids would go without nothing and I wouldn’t feel a drop of guilt at all. He’s earned it.”
“Steven Gerrard already donates to charity and does charity work why should he be shunned for buying his daughter a gift? Let him do as he pleases with his money.”

Steven has four children with wife Alex Curran – daughters Lilly-Ella, 13, Lexie, ten, Lourdes, six and Lio, seven months.
