Jimmy Kimmel’s son makes first public appearance after open heart surgery

Jimmy Kimmel's son Billy has made his first major public appearance since having open heart surgery almost five months ago. The chat show host and his five month old son walked (and were carried down) the red carpet  alongisde Kimmel's wife Molly McNearney and their three year old daughter Jane. The family were stepping out for the L.A. Loves Alex's Lemonade charity event on Saturday at UCLA. And it sounds like the talk show host couldn't be prouder of the infant's recovery. The doting dad gushed to E! News:

"He's doing well. This is really his first public outing. "It's not exciting for him, he's a baby! But everyone is doing well!"

The talk show host and his wife welcomed Billy into the world on April 21. He confirmed the news during an emotional segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, telling viewers the baby had been born with a heart defect that required open heart surgery. But just a week after surgery, Billy was able to leave the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and head home with his family. Images via Getty.
