Get involved!

It’s hard to find time to get active with your kids. Even though you may watch them from the sideline at one of their matches or take them for a swimming lesson, it’s less frequent that you have a group activity specifically for exercise. Especially one that’s free.

Limerick City has come up with a great way to encourage families to get active together. They have introduced Beat The Street in recent weeks which runs for a seven-week period.

The idea is that families get out and walk, cycle or run. Along your way, you can use cards to tap on various points to record the journey. You gain points for your journey with the chance of winning prizes.

Not only that, every tap helps to raise money for Limerick Suicide Watch.

The scheme runs until November 1st and the cards for tapping are available in different libraries and leisure centres around Limerick.

So far, the city has clocked up 33,075 miles collectively.
