‘Mothers-in-law are so often slated… I’m lucky enough to have one of the best’

Look, we get it: MILs often come in for a tough time.

In fact, there are as many mother-in-law jokes as there are actual mothers-in-law. However, many of us would also say that our partner's mum is our saviour: offering childcare and babysitting, as well as emotional and financial help. It's a touching sentiment that one UK-based mum, Lindsey Turner, highlighted recently on the Motherload Facebook page - prompting a surge of support from women who say they couldn't manage without their very special MILs. By way of a small thanks for all the work she does, Lindsey shared a gorgeous black-and-white snap of Sandra Clamp cuddling one of her grandkids. Lindsey wrote: "She isn't on Facebook, so I can't tag her, but this is my amazing mother in law. "The woman who knowing I no longer have my own Mum, has stepped up, and stepped in. This is the woman who works a 12 hour night shift from hell, but thinks nothing of calling in on her way home just so she can take her granddaughter to nursery. "This is the woman who has taken care of my babies when I haven't been able to. This is a woman who loves her children and grandchildren more than life itself. "This is the woman who humours me. Who listens to my deepest fears. Who loves me like her own... Mother in laws are so often slated. I'm lucky enough to have one of the best." Lindsey furthermore used the hashtags #takesavillagetoraiseachild and #lucky. The post sparked an incredible response on the Motherload Facebook page - with fellow mums chipping in with: "My mother in law is one of the best women I know! I’m very lucky to have her xx" and "my mother in law is just the best, I'm not the easiest but she knows me through and through!
