Prince William says this children’s book is a ‘big hit’ with George and Charlotte at bedtime

Prince William has revealed the classic children's bedtime story that is a "big hit" with his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The dad-of-three met author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler at a Tusk Trust event at Kensington Palace on Monday. And after the initial introductions, the Duke of Cambridge reportedly responded:

"I know who you are. It’s a big hit in our household, The Gruffalo."

The book, published in 1999, tells the story of a little mouse who takes a walk through a forest, where he runs into a bunch of animals that want to eat him - before running into the gruffalo, a bear-buffalo hybrid. William also spoke about the model rhinoceros that had been decorated by the pair as part of the art installation, which was designed to raise awareness about the issue of poaching. Hello! report that he told them:

"It's amazing, I love it. You can tell it's you guys. It's the eyes [of the animals] I think, you can always tell the eyes."

The Duke of Cambridge also explained how his eldest son, Prince George, was a huge fan of rhinos. He also joked that it was probably a good thing the young royal didn't know the rhino was on sale, since otherwise he would be "keeping an eye on it."
