Mums are nothing if not adept at sniffing out a bargain!
And clearly the weekly shop is one area that many of us try and shop around for the best deals and offers.
It’s been brilliant to see the expansion of the likes of Lidl and Aldi in Ireland, and all the big supermarkets – Dunnes, SuperValu, and Tesco – seem to run great, family-friendly specials.
Which is why we welcome the arrival of the massive new Iceland supermarket that is opening on Tuesday in Cork.
Opening its doors at the Eastside Retail Park in Ballincollig, it’s actually the city’s third store.
The supermarket spans 790 sq metres and has the brand’s usual frozen and chilled ranges, as well as things like household essentials.
The Ballincollig also outlet gives you a euro back for every €30 you spend via Iceland’s Bonus Card scheme, which is to be applauded.
Lena Thomas, the store manager, said: “I’m delighted to see another Iceland store open in Cork and to be manager here in Ballincollig.
“We are excited and looking forward to bringing amazing value, products and customer service to locals and look forward to welcoming new customers in the coming weeks.”
Iceland now has a total of 12 stores in Ireland. Fermoy also in Cork is getting another one in early March.
