"So my baby had a playdate with a couple of babies last week and I took some really cute photos of the afternoon. I sent them to the other mums who were the delighted at the photos!" the anonymous woman wrote on Mumsnet.She explained that she cut the other children out before posting the photos to Instagram while her friend was with her.
"My friend couldn't understand why I was doing this and thought I was being paranoid /OTT to not include the other babies. "In my mind it's not my place to post photos of other peoples children on a social network platform. Was I being unreasonable?" she asked.Many mums thought this was reasonable, with some admitting they don't even put up images of their own.
"I would be really angry if someone put up a photo of my children on social media. I never have done it so don’t expect anyone else to."
"I do not post pictures of my children on any social media platform so would be very annoyed if someone else did."
"We have no photos of our children on social media because of a relative who is dangerous. Not everybody in our lives knows this. I would be furious and scared if a photo went up without our permission."
Not everyone was in agreement though.
Some parents thought sharing images of other people's kids was no big deal, while one couldn't understand why a parent would post at all.
"I know of literally nobody who would get upset about having a sweet picture of their baby on a play date posted on SM by a friend."
"Why does anyone want to put personal pictures up for the whole world to see?"
