Would you let your children blow out their sibling’s birthday candles just to keep them happy?

Children’s birthday parties can sometimes be more of a hassle than they really should be

One video online has received plenty of backlash after a mother let all her children get a turn to blow out her eldest daughter’s birthday candles.

Cecily Bauchmann is a popular content creator on TikTok, with over two million followers.

She posts daily vlogs of her morning routine as well as other videos about fashion and family life.

She came under scrutiny recently after she showed a clip from her daughter’s 11th birthday.

After her daughter blew out her candles, her younger siblings asked if they could get a turn.

Bauchmann then re-lit the candles so each child had a go.

Many viewers were outraged, and some confused about the situation.

“I think parents have taken it too far with doing things for the non-birthday kids to keep them happy too,” one wrote.

One user said: “Can’t believe her siblings turned 11 with her today.”

Another pointed out that it would have been the perfect opportunity to teach them what ‘no’ means.

The video was quickly deleted due to controversy.

However, Bauchmann did admit in the comments that she made a mistake and should have used it as a teaching moment.

Many also guessed that this wouldn’t happen if it was the other way around.

The younger children would most likely be upset if their older sister got to blow out their candles.

Obviously the actual act of blowing birthday candles out isn’t a major offence, but it is unfair that the child’s birthday wasn’t special anymore.

What do you think – are people overreacting, or should parents be better at saying no?
