Get the school year off to a sporting start with 3 awesome activities for kids

HerFamily

With the new school year kicking off around the country this week, our little ones will be faced with a whole new schedule of activities and adventures – both in and out of the classroom.

This week we’re talking sports, specifically girls sports, and we’re bringing you 3 awesome games for your little ones to try out this September.

1. Trampolining.

Got a trampoline sitting in the garden that’s not being used? Sign up your little ones for a fun and active trampolining class (more and more of these are springing up around the country), or a one-day party in a Trampoline Park. They’ll be back bouncing around in the garden in no time. Jumping on a trampoline comes with a whole host of benefits – it improves posture and flexibility, it’s a great cardiovascular workout, and it helps develop balance and coordination.

2. Horse riding

Giddy up! Horse riding is a fantastic way to get kids out in the open countryside enjoying the fresh air. It’s also a great workout – horse riding helps strengthen muscles, increase joint mobility and boost the cardiovascular system. Horse riding lessons also shows young children the responsibility that comes with caring for animals – get them involved in working at the stables and you’ll be teaching them important lessons for life.

3. Archery

Got a Hunger Games fan in the house? Why not give them the chance to follow in Katniss Everdeen’s footsteps develop their bow and arrow skills? Archery helps to develop focus, strength, coordination and confidence in kids. The concentration required for this sport can helps your little ones focus better in other areas of life too. Arms, hands, chest, core and shoulders are all strengthened by practising archery.

As proud sponsor of both hurling and camogie, Liberty Insurance launched a new initiative this year, #SupportHerSport, to get parents actively involved in their daughters’ sports, either as participants or spectators.
