Half of parents dependent on ‘nanny tablet’ during long journeys

There’s something about those little screens that has the power to keep smallies enthralled for hours, but new research reveals that parents are using smartphones and iPads to replace traditional parenting methods… particularly when it comes to holiday journeys.

In fact, almost half of parents with children aged between three and 15 admit that they are now fully dependent on the ‘nanny tablet’ to occupy their offspring during long trips.

A survey of 2,000 mums and dads conducted by bespokeoffers.co.uk revealed that 40 per cent of parents had even purchased a secondary ‘rough and ready’ tablet to be used exclusively by the children, many of whom already own up to €530 worth of technology before they turn seven.

A recent survey by Lenstore.co.uk revealed that children aged between two and four spent over five hours a day using digital technology, a figure that rose to eight hours a day when children aged between two and 16 were taken into consideration.
