Kristen Bell reveals the potty training hack that finally helped get her daughter out of nappies

When it comes to celebrities telling it like it is about parenting – and most other things – we can always count on Kristen Bell.

The actress, who is mum to daughters Lincoln and Delta with husband Dax Shepard, recently (more or less) broke the internet when she admitted that she was having a hard time potty training her youngest daughter, and that the five-year-old still wore nappies going to bed at night.

The internet being the internet, of course, parents from across the globe chimed in with all sorts of advice, but as it turns out, in a recent interview with Today’s Parent, Bell admitted that, in fact, her youngest daughter has since stopped wearing nappied to bed at night – and the 39-year-old even revealed the parenting hack that finally worked.

“You know what we have to do? We wake her up at about 11 p.m. when she’s like a zombie and put her on the toilet,” Bell told Today’s Parent.

The actress admitted she had faced some ‘mom-shaming’ after admitting that her daughter still wore nappies to bed, but explains she was always quick to answer back that every child is different, and that for some, this whole potty training thing just takes longer.

“I think it’s really normal and no one should feel ashamed if their kid has an irregular pattern for potty training. And if you want to try this 11 o’clock make-them-pee trick, great, there’s no shame in any of it. Sometimes it takes kids until they’re even older than five! But I’ve never met a high-schooler who pees their pants all day. It’s going to stop at some point!”

Well said, Kristen – ‘mom shamers’ are nothing but trolls, and seriously – can we all just be a little kinder, please?
