“This is a long and ongoing process.”

Michael Bublé’s wife Luisana Lopilato has given her first in-depth interview since their son Noah was diagnosed with cancer last year and described the days when they learned just how ill he was.

She’s revealed that doctors initially thought the little boy had mumps.

Speaking to TV host Susanna Giminez in her native Argentina, she said she was told that Noah didn’t need any treatment, but that she sought a second opinion from the family doctor, reports the Daily Mail.

The doctor suggested more tests, during which a lump was found in his stomach.

“If I hadn’t done the ultrasound to rule out mononucleosis, they wouldn’t have discovered what they did in his stomach and it would have been worse after,” she said.

With that, she flew to the US for treatment without even telling her husband.

“He was just about to do a very important interview in England and I couldn’t get hold of him on the phone so the day I found out Noah had something in his stomach and the doctors didn’t really what it was and whether it might be a tumour, I got a flight to the States.”

She said that Michael immediately cancelled the rest of his tour and she dropped out of the film she was shooting to be with their son throughout his treatment.

Noah is now recovering, she said.

“Thank God the worst is now over but this is a long and ongoing process,” Luisana said.

The couple has never disclosed what type of cancer Noah, three, has but the little boy is rumoured to have been treated for liver cancer.
