Mother only allows kids watch TV while on a treadmill

What do you think of this method?

When I’m watching TV I like to be curled up with a blanket, a decent selection of snacks, and a cuppa tea. The last thing I want to do is run on a treadmill so I can enjoy an episode of Gilmore Girls.

However, one mum has told her kids they can only watch cartoons if they are on the treadmill. “I only let my kids watch cartoons if they’re walking on the treadmill. One day my 11-year-old walked 16 miles!” she revealed in a TikTok video.

It may be a great way to get the kids exercising but it has certainly divided opinions online.

Many people believed it was a clever idea, especially when screen-time can prevent so many children from getting their daily bout of exercise.

However, others believe it was a little manipulative.

Many commented on how kids should just be allowed to enjoy cartoons and not have to do something in return. The reward-type system didn’t sit well with a lot of mums.

We say each to their own, but it’s important to remember that letting the kids watch a little bit of telly isn’t going to cause a lot of harm.

It’s all about balance so let’s just even out the Disney movie marathons and morning walks in the park.
