Mum explains why you should never buy blue swimsuits for your children

A mum has issued a warning to parents about the colour of their children's swimsuits.

She explained that the colour of your child's swimsuit can make a difference when it comes to water safety. Swim instructor Nikki Scarnati said parents should avoid buying blue swimsuits. She explained in a now-viral video that buying bright swimsuits is so important. She said parents should purchase red, purple, or pink swimsuits for their children.

"So this is not a bathing suit my daughter wears on a regular basis. I bought it on clearance specifically for this example for parents that wanted to learn," the mum said in the video. She explained that a blue swimsuit can be incredibly dangerous for children because it blends in with the water. "This is why you do not put your children in blue bathing suits. Look how difficult it is to see her under the water, and this is in calm water." "This is not with a whole bunch of other kids playing and splashing around and having a good time," she said. Another swim instructor agreed with Nikki's video and said she requires pupils to wear coloured swimsuits in her swimming lessons. Another said: "My kids will forever wear neon everything so I can always see them." "I'm a former lifeguard and this is absolutely right! Any shade of blue is difficult to see and so is any pastel colour."
