Mum fuming after ex gets nine-week-old daughter’s ears pierced without telling her

Keeley Ryan

A mum was left furious after she found out her ex-husband got their nine-week-old daughter’s ears pierced – even though she asked him not to.

The woman said that her ex had been taking care of the tot on Sunday overnight – and, on Monday, darted off without explaining what happened.

She explained on Netmums:

“I have never liked the thought of piercing a babies ears – not that I would ever judge someone based on this – and I have never wanted any children I had to have their ears pierced until they were able to ask me themselves.

“I expressed this to my ex a few weeks ago when he said she would look cute with her ears pierced.

“I said that I didn’t think piercings were for baby’s and that she can have them pierced when she is old enough to ask me.

“My ex had our daughter over night (Sunday – Monday). He brought her home to me at 5pm and left as quickly as possible, pushing the pram through the door shouting a quick ‘she’s grumpy, have fun’ and then shot out the door.”

The mum said that their daughter wasn’t grumpy – she was “full on screaming like I had never heard before”.

She continued:

“I got her immediately and gave her a cuddle, when taking her hat off I realised what was bothering her!

“He had taken her to have her ears pierced god knows where! Her ears are still flaming hot and swollen right now – I can’t believe he would do that behind my back and run off before I could confront him.

“He purposely caused her pain for absolutely no reason! He won’t tell me the place where he got them done and I’m scared to death that it wasn’t someone who was trained and my poor baby is going to get an infection from this.”

She added that she had tried to take the earrings out, but “it’s so sore to even touch”.

She wrote:

“I asked him why he would do that against my wishes and his only responce was ‘told you she would look cute’.”

Other parents were equally as furious about the situation, with many saying that they wouldn’t trust the ex to look after the little girl again.

One person said:

“Oh my Goodness I would be livid.

“I certainly wouldn’t be keen to allow him to have her overnight again until he can act more responsibly, as in have discussions and comprises, not act like a child and go behind your back.”

Someone else wrote:

“I would be fuming like you and not trusting him to look after her again.

“Poor little munchkin, can’t stand the thought of a baby being put through pain like that. He’s totally irresponsible.”

Another added:

“I wouldn’t let him have your daughter again. That was irresponsible and worse it was immature to do it just because she’d ‘look cute’.”
