Mum sparks debate after revealing husband said daughter’s accessory was ‘trashy’

Her husband was "outraged" after seeing the baby wearing one.

A mum reached out to the internet to settle a disagreement with her husband over whether or not “headbands are chavvy on babies”. The Mumsnet user explained that her husband was “outraged” after she had dressed her little girl with a white headband, telling her that it was “trashy”. But, disagreeing with her partner, the woman took to the parenting forum to seek out advice. She wrote on Mumsnet:

“Please settle an argument for me. Are headbands on baby girls chavvy? “DH was outraged I put one on DD and said they're chavvy. “I don't think they are!”

“I don’t personally like them as I think they are tacky! I would never put such a thing on my dd. “However what someone puts on their own baby I couldn’t care less.”

Another added:

"Personally I think they’re utterly ridiculous and look horrendous."

Someone else, rather bluntly, wrote:

"It’s awful. Please don’t do this to her, she’s not a Yorkshire Terrier. "And if I were here I’d find it really irritating."

Other commenters warned her against the trend, saying that it was a potential hazard to her little one. One person wrote:

"Yes, chavvy and dangerous. If they slip down over a small baby's face they can suffocate."

Another added:

"Choosing to put a strangulation risk on your child to prove they are female is stupid."
