It’s been a tough year on all of us – for many different reasons.

This can be particularly hard as we are approaching Christmas, and us parents tend to live for being able to give our children those magical Christmas morning moments, when they wake to find a stack of presents under the tree and an overflowing stocking hanging from their mantel.

However, we love this mum’s crafty Christmas trick that to mask the lack of gifts.

Mum-of-two, Hannah Stocker from the UK, shared the above image to Facebook, explaining how she managed to make Christmas look a little more exciting for her sons, Leo and Charlie on Christmas morning last year.

“If anyone out there is struggling for money, I just wanted to share this with you,” Hannah wrote in the post’s caption.

“Last year I felt guilty that I couldn’t provide that huge pile of present for my boys, that I wanted to, so I decided to cover the floor with balloons to hide the lack of presents, which worked a treat.”

Hannah explained that she had written her boys’ names on some of the balloons and put money inside for them ranging from a silver coin up to a “surprise £5 note.” She also bought them a money box each that counted the money as they put it inside, leaving them with a total of £50 all up.

“You know what my kids have asked for this year?” she asked, “You guessed it, balloons with money in. It doesn’t have to break the bank!”
