Museum boss apologises as breastfeeding mum asked to cover up

A major London museum has apologised to a mum who was asked to cover up while breastfeeding.

A Twitter user shared her frustration at being told to cover up during a trip to the V&A Museum of Art and Design on the social platform over the weekend. https://twitter.com/vaguechera/status/893793544221143040 The user, @Vaguechera, claims she "flashed a nanosecond of nipple" while feeding her child and shared images of nude sculptures on display at the museum to highlight the irony of the situation. In another tweet, she wrote that it was the first time in three and a half years of breastfeeding that this had happened to her. Her tweet quickly gained traction and has been retweeted over 7,000 in the past few days.

The museum's director has since apologised to the woman on the museum's official Twitter page and via his own account. "Very sorry. Our policy is clear: women may breastfeed wherever they like, wherever they feel comfortable and should not be disturbed," wrote Tristam Hunt.
