There is a new Valentine’s version of Baby Shark on the way (and God help us all)

Trine Jensen-Burke

Quick – hide the iPad.

Or cancel the internet. Smash your phone – whatever it takes to avoid the new version of the song that drove us all collectively around the bend in 2018.

I am talking, of course, about Baby Shark, the Korean kids song that has racked up an INSANE 2.2 billion views on Youtube.

(It feels like at least half of those views were from my kids alone, and I am sure you feel the same way, parents!)

And if you are still trying to get the annoying  “doo doo doo doo doo” from the original version out of your head (stop runing my LIFE, Pinkfong!), let this be your warning that there is a Valentine’s version of the song out now, and yup – it is just as mind-numbing as the original. If not even more so.

As you can see (should you even be able to stomach it) the latest iteration of the song every parent regrets playing for their kid has some fresh graphics related to February 14th, and a new line or two (does “Darling!” count as a line?).

And that’s it. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
