Olivia Wilde Gets Real About How Hard Breastfeeding Can Be – And We All Love Her For It

If you are not already following the legend celebrity mama that is Olivia Wilde on Instagram, I suggest you get your phone out of your bag and do this right this minute. The actress, who has two gorgeous children with husband Jason Sudeikis, regularly shares lovely snaps on her tots – and life as a mother – on her account, an, often, paints a picture that is  far more true-to-life than the beautifully filtered images of motherhood we so often see on social media. Go Olivia. The mum-of-two, who shared a sweet shot of herself breastfeeding her daughter Daisy, also recently got candid with People magazine about how tough breastfeeding can be—and made an important point about why it's not the right choice for every mum.

Because while Wilde thinks breastfeeding is "a great experience," it doesn't mean that the famous mama thinks it is a walk in the park. This is how she summed up the challenges that come along with breastfeeding and formula feeding in a recent interview with People magazine: "[Breastfeeding] is not easy — it’s messy. Like 90 percent of the time you are soaked in milk. It is a difficult thing. But it is, personally for me, a great experience," the actress explains. "It should be a choice for everyone. I don’t like the idea of breastfeeding being forced on anyone or anyone feeling guilty." So well put, we think. Because while we all know how great breastfeeding is for babies and mums, there is also an intense pressure on mothers to always do the Right Thing, and many formula feeders admit to feeling shamed for their choice not to breastfeed. We should all give each other space to make the choice that is right for our bodies and our families. Both can be tough. Both can be amazing. The point is, it's your business, your body and las, but not least, your baby.
