Possibly the cutest underwater baby snaps you’ll ever see

"Say Cheese"

More than 70 fascinating photos of babies underwater have been included in a new book to help promote the cause of water safety for babies.

Photographer Seth Casteel, whose previous work includes a book called Underwater Dogs, said he wanted to create his new book, Underwater Babies, after hearing of the shocking statistics of the numbers of children that drown. He told Today, “The book is a celebration of babies, but there’s definitely a serious element to it.

“A big reason I wanted to make this book is to promote the cause of water safety for babies. I just want to let people know about the benefits of these classes and that they are something to strongly consider,” said Seth.

With a limited window to get the shot – the babies are put under the water for just a couple of seconds – he photographed around 750 babies during swimming lessons at pools across ten different states in the US.

As the mum of a real life water baby, I think this is a great way to highlight an important issue. Plus, the photos are pretty funny – have a look at some for yourself…
