Prince George turns two… with a party fit for a king

Katie Mythen-Lynch

He is third in line for the throne, so it makes sense that Prince George will be treated to a party worthy of a king when he celebrates his second birthday tomorrow.

And while it’ll be decidedly low key compared to last year’s celebration at Kensington Palace, when the Queen was in attendance and Happy Birthday was played by the Irish Guards, the Middleton’s party-planning prowess promises the day will be one to remember.

Little George Alexander Louis of Cambridge will be surrounded by friends and family, including new baby sister Princess Charlotte, as the royals gather for jelly and ice cream at the family’s Georgian Norfolk mansion, Amner Hall.

Professional party planner auntie Pippa, uncle James and grandparents Michael and Carole Middleton, who run one of the UK’s biggest party accessory companies, are expected to attend the low-key tea along with Prince George’s godparents. According to reports, Prince Charles and Camilla, currently on an official visit to the West Country, will miss the fun.

This week Prince William revealed how much he was enjoying family life as Dad to George and Charlotte, and admitted the couple wouldn’t rule out expanding their family in the future:

“It has been fantastic and she has been a little joy of heaven. But at the same time it is more responsibility, looking after two little ones, especially when George is around. He’s a little monkey.

“We’ve only just had the second one. You never know what is going to happen in the future.” he told reporters.
