We put this school uniform range to the test – the results are in

Brought to you by F+F at Tesco.

Ah, September. One of the most expensive times of year to be a parent.

When you’re not dropping serious cash on new shoes and the latest trendy rucksacks, you’re likely to be schoolbook shopping or measuring your lively offspring for new uniforms.

That last part needn’t be a drain on the family coffers however. We’re here to let you in on a secret: canny mums and dads buy their uniforms at Tesco.

Not only are the prices reasonable, but this year the majority of the collection (seven out of ten pieces) have had the fit improved, the quality updated or the styling upgraded.

Tempted to check it out? Here’s what our panel of mums had to say about the range:

“I was dubious about the As New Technology promise – my son’s uniform spends almost as much time in the washing machine as it does in the classroom. However, I did notice that last year’s jumper looked good as new until the end of term. In fact, his little brother will be wearing it this year!”

– Jane Creedon, Ballincollig, Co. Cork

“My kids can sniff out a muddy puddle from three miles away so the Teflon EcoElite™ finish (a carbon-free fabric protector) is a godsend for repelling stains. All children’s trousers should be made from this stuff!”

-Karen O’Shea, Lucan, Dublin

” I am not a fan of pressing shirts for the whole family on a Sunday night (when I should be watching Corrie with a nice Merlot). F+F school shirts remain crease resistant in the wash and can even be popped in the tumble dryer for a sharp, neat finish. Genius!”

-Dee Galvin, Caherconlish, Co. Limerick

“Two words: reinforced knees. F+F school trousers come with a reinforced inner patch at the knee to increase resilience against wear and tear.”

-Bernie Maher, Castlebridge, Co. Wexford

“The fit is spot on. F+F school uniforms are based on the National Sizing Survey of Children aged between 4 and 16 and use specially developed patterns for consistency in fit and shape. The adjustable waists on trousers and skirts allow the uniform to grow with kids during the school year.”

– Melanie Dennehy, Trim, Co. Meath

The F+F Back to School event is now underway at Tesco. Drop in for your ideal style and fit at a price that won’t break the bank.
