This secret message hack might save you if the kids accidentally grab your phone

how to send secret messages on iPhone

With just weeks to go before the big day, parents up and down the land are busy helping Santa out with his shopping.

The problem?

The kids forever grabbing your phone to play games or take silly selfies means you are forever running the risk of them accidentally seeing messages or pictures or order confirmation e-mails they shouldn’t be seeing.

You know – the ones that will ruin the whole ‘oh, Santa made these in his workshop’ story.

However, a handy iPhone hack might just help ensure your children WON’T accidentally see messages that are not meant for little prying eyes.

Yup, there’s a feature that comes built-in with iPhones that will make sure they don’t see anything not meant for them – so you can send links to Christmas pressies on sale to your other half or the grandparents without fear of the kids finding out.

Best of all?

The feature, called Invisible Ink, doesn’t require any special apps as this is an Apple feature that is already built into the phone.

How it works

When you (or your sender) send an Invisible Ink message, it appears scribbled out on the screen.

And only when you tap and hold the message on the screen, the message appears.

Clever, no?

All you need to do is to open up a message, start typing as if you were writing an iMessage, and when you’re ready to send, simply hold down the send button with your finger.

This brings up a hidden menu, where you’ll be given the option to send the message via ‘Invisible Ink’. Click that option, then click send and the message will appear garbled on screen.

The recipient will have to hold down their own message on screen to be able to read what you’ve written, but it’ll disappear after a few seconds.
