Survey Reveals How Much Parents Spend On First Communions

HerFamily

First Communions are a big thing and that is certainly reflected in the latest stats about spending for the occasion.

According to the annual Ulster Bank Communion survey, parents this year spent more than last by forking out an average of €836 per child.

The bulk of the money (€370) went on the party and entertainment – we’re talking food and bouncy castles – while €176 was spent on the child’s outfit and a further €212 covered outfits for other family members.

As for the kids themselves, they also raked in more money than in 2015 with the average amount received by each child coming in at €546.

However, almost a quarter of kids (22 per cent to be exact) got more than €800 and girls received €30 more than boys – €563 compared to €533.

The online survey was carried out between May 15th and June 6th. Just over 200 parents of kids who made their Communion this year were involved.
