Know a wannabe pilot?

Know someone small with big dreams of flying high?

If your little one has an obsession with planes or is just a bit of a thrill-seeker, they’ll probably love the newest attraction at Tayto Park.

A ‘flight school’ is set to launch at the Co Meath theme park next month.

It’s a 13.1 metre-high ride that takes kids along a 281 metre track through the air in their very own ‘airplane’.

Each plane carries two riders at once and promises to give wannabe pilots a taste of what it’s like to man your own aircraft.

Once ‘pilots’ land safely back at the terminal, they’ll even have the option of picking up their very own pilot’s licence.

The ride is the first of its kind in Ireland, according to Tayto Park founder Raymond Coyle.

“Here at Tayto Park we’re always looking for innovative and creative ways to enhance the experience for families at our theme park and zoo,” he said.

“Flight School will be the first of its kind in Ireland and is bound to be very popular among our younger visitors this season enhancing the overall family fun experience at Tayto Park.”

The ride will be open to the public in mid-May, a month ahead of the park’s FunFest.

The family festival takes place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 of June and will see acts including Hudson Taylor, Nathan Carter and Heather Smalls appear, as well as a circus, family entertainment, dance and art events.
