As adults, we know how distressing sinus pain can be and for your little ones, it’s even worse.

Unfortunately, the common cold is rampant at this time of year and it’s so tough to see them struggle with pain.

However, one mum has shared a hack that she used in this situation and it has gone massively viral.

Sia Cooper is a personal trainer living in America and she shared the below tip on her Instagram account after her little girl fell ill with a cold.

She caught a cold while teething and as a result, her breathing was laboured.

However, when Sia massaged her daughter’s sinus cavities, she noticed a difference immediately and the pressure was relieved, albeit temporarily.

“Simply apply direct pressure with your fingertips and gently rub to get that drainage flowing. Also helps to temporarily relieve a little pressure so your little ones can feel better!

As Sia pointed out, this is a great alternative if you’d rather not resort to medication but while it might comfort your little one, steam is the best method of treatment.

Dr Keir Shields says that as opening your sinuses is the best way to unblock them but this has to be done from “the inside”.

Speaking to The Huffington Post, he said:

“Run a hot shower and let the bathroom fill up with steam. Play with your child in the DIY sauna you’ve created.

“Steam is by far the best way of opening the sinus inlets – it makes mucus more runny and opens up the airways”.
