This mum’s photos about the reality of motherhood are highly relatable

'Motherhood is no longer having privacy, never peeing or showering in peace.'

A mum in the US has attempted to capture the unfiltered side or motherhood in a new photo series – with some very relatable results.

Giedre Gomes, a photographer from Indiana and mum to two boys aged three and five, was tired of seeing images of ‘perfect’ families and wanted images that reflected life as a parent a little more accurately so she decided to create them herself.

She put out a call on social media for several other mums to pose with her for the photos.

The resulting images are bang-on, showing mums folding laundry, making dinner and even on the toilet surrounded by their kids.

“I wanted to show real life, reality and routine, when every single day is the same,” she told HuffPost UK.

“Breakfast, lunch, dinner, cooking, cleaning, dishes, laundry, driving and shopping. Every single day. The same thing over and over. I wanted to show pictures that mums can relate to.”

“Motherhood is no longer having privacy, never peeing or showering in peace. Motherhood is using your shirt to wipe runny noses and dirty faces. Motherhood is learning how to do everything with one hand while carrying a baby in another.

“But in the end, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
