Bedtime can be tough. OK, more like a battle.

Especially when it feels like your little one is an absolute mastermind at finding new ways to stay up later and later.

But one mum’s trick to getting her daughter to fall asleep has been being praised by parents – especially as it works for any age.

It all began when a Redditor posted a thread to share the game they play with their kids to get them to sleep.

The comments underneath were flooded with parents sharing their own similar tips and tricks to get their little ones to go to doze off.

One of them seemed to be particularly appealing for parents.

The Reddit commenter explained that her own mum had taught her the trick, which was to “check her daughter’s bones”.

They explain that while the trick originally worked as “rubbing her back when she was young”, they continued to use it as she got older – only, adapting it as they went along.

The comment explained:

“She lays on her tummy while I ‘check her bones’, which started as just me rubbing her back when she was young

“Now we practice counting and some anatomy, as she gets older we can let it evolve to whatever she’s learning (the layout of the planets, or maybe counting in Latin, etc.).

“At first I thought it was a funny thing for my mom to suggest, but now I know Grandma is well versed in the dark arts of child taming ;) “
